Premo D'Anger, the artist, musician, and producer, embarked on his musical odyssey at the tender age of one when he received his first drum kit. Raised as the only child in a military family, he journeyed through various places, gathering the rich tapestry of experiences that would later shape his unique musical identity.
Immersing himself in the melodies of legends like Ramsey Lewis, George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, and Miles Davis, Premo developed an unwavering passion for jazz. Remarkably, his first school lacked a formal music curriculum, but this didn't deter his insatiable hunger for musical greatness. He possessed an extraordinary ability to replicate the styles of the artists he admired, a testament to his innate talent, which soon became apparent to those around him.
As a child, Premo's mother, an artist herself, traveled the country as part of a gospel quartet, setting the stage for his own musical journey. At the age of seven, he embarked on a parallel path, touring with a gospel group and honing his skills on drums, keys, bass guitar, and microphone presence.
A pivotal move to Alaska provided the backdrop for his artistic evolution. High school band performances, show choir engagements, and church drumming became the canvas on which he painted his musical journey. Yet, his thirst for musical exploration led him to the piano, a choice that would forever solidify his love for the art of music. During his Alaskan sojourn, he also had the privilege of playing alongside gospel luminary Milton Biggham, a transformative experience that further ignited his passion.
Premo's career has been nothing short of extraordinary. He served as the original musical director for Justin Timberlake's Tennman/Interscope-signed artist FREESOL, sharing stages with a diverse array of musical giants like Al Green, Erykah Badu, Snoop Dogg, The Foo Fighters, Elton John, Lady Antebellum, Diddy, TPain, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Gnarls Barkley, and, of course, Justin Timberlake himself. Collaborations with renowned super producers such as Cool n Dre, Mike Elizondo, Dave Tozer, Jim Jonsin, and Printz Board enriched his musical palette, allowing him to craft a distinct, genre-defying style.
Most recently, Premo signed a production deal with Oscar winner, and multi-Grammy nominated artist/producer DJ Paul, (half of the legendary rap group “three6mafia”).
Premo also served as the musical director for the BB King's Blues Club All Stars in partnership with Holland America, mesmerizing audiences on land and sea. Currently, he is currently touring regularly playing keyboards with different artists like world renowned funk/soul phenom, Tre’Sure, as well as R&B soul singer, Anthony David.
When not on tour, he calls Las Vegas, NV, his home, where he passionately nurtures emerging artists through his imprint, TheDangerZone (TDZmusic34).
